The City of Ekurhuleni seeks a Driver Operator to safely operate heavy machinery and jet trucks for the Water & Sanitation Department. The role involves transporting staff and equipment, operating jet trucks, skid steer loaders, bobcats, and similar civil machinery, setting out traffic control signage, executing job cards and work instructions, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and municipal procedures. Manual labour is required, including opening manholes and lifting heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery and/or trucks safely
• Safely transport staff, plant or equipment to the site
• Safely operate jet truck water vehicles, skid steer loaders, bobcats and other related civil heavy plant machinery
• Plan, organise and ensure that work allocated to the team is carried out effectively and adhere to set standards
• Ensure that resources allocated are used effectively and efficiently
• Set out necessary work signs as per the appropriate Traffic Control Plan on site to ensure safety and staff and equipment
• Ensure compliance to governance and legislative requirements, OHS Act and related regulations, by-laws, regulations, policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or Equivalent
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license with PrDP
• Applicable Operator Training
• 2 years' experience in a similar environment
• Physically fit to perform manual labour
